Skincare made Simple

Skincare is something everyone should practice and tailor to their own needs. Finding the right products for your skin can take time, but starting simple with a thoughtful routine is the first step. Today we’ll be walking you through the basics so you can ensure that your skincare regimen is up to par!

Everyday skincare routines should consist of three components: cleansing, toning and moisturizing. Identifying your skin type can help you find the proper products for each step. For example, if you have acne-prone skin, you’ll need a cleanser formulated with salicylic acid or if you struggle with oily skin, you may want to look for a non-comedogenic moisturizer to avoid blocked pores. We recommend always performing a patch test but this is especially important for sensitive or reactive skin, so make sure that when trying new products you let them sit on your forearm or behind your elbow for 24 hours to see if your skin will react.

For mature skin, eye and night cream are musts!

Doing research on the products that are most beneficial to your skin’s specific needs is important for thoughtful skincare. Remember that when trying a new product, you should give your skin at least 6 weeks to adjust and reap results. Make sure you keep the products in your daily routine consistent and use them at the rate recommended. Giving the products a proper trial is vital to creating your perfect skincare routine.

A good skincare routine begins with cleansing, make sure that you remove any makeup you’ve been wearing. Finding a product that helps you get pollutants, make-up, and oils off your face while tackling any skin problems you may have is key! Make sure to cleanse thoroughly twice a day and be sure to wash areas where makeup is likely to build, as well as the spots where you find the most breakouts.

Toning is all about balancing out the skin! It helps to restore your pH balance and tighten your pores while adding a layer of non-obtrusive protection. To tone, simply apply your toner with a cotton swab (maybe even a reusable round to reduce waste if you plan to get serious about toning) and let it work its magic! We suggest applying when your face is still slightly damp from cleansing as it will absorb better.

Last but not least, hydrate and protect! Moisturize in the morning and at night with your preferred product. Any time you leave the house, wearing sunscreen Or using a moisturizer with sunscreen is recommended to avoid long-term damage.

Once you have a steady routine set, you can add fun sheet masks or clay masks on occasion for an extra boost. You can also perfect your regimen by using an exfoliant or scrub once a week to thoroughly cleanse your pores. Tackling skincare can be a lot! With so many products on the market and so many individual skin types, it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. Remember to treat skincare as self-care and approach it as a relaxing “me-time” moment in your day.
