How to Have a Frizz-Free Summer

We know that this time of year is often the time many of our clients begin seeking out Keratin treatments. Since access to in-salon treatments is limited this year, we’re here to give you some tips for keeping your hair smooth from home! Here is our list of simple things you can do to keep your hair free of frizz:

  1. Limit your shampoo routine. Instead of washing your hair every day, give it time to rest, and to let your natural oils do their work to reduce frizz. Depending on your texture and levels of oiliness, you may be able to switch to washing every other day or once every few days. Now is the perfect time to see how long one wash can last for your hair!

  2. Limit stressors that are hard on frizzy hair. Caffeine and alcohol are just as de-hydrating for the hair as they are for the rest of the body, so be sure to supplement your intake with plenty of water.

  3. Cut down on using heat. Hot styling tools like hairdryers, straighteners, and curling irons can be damaging in excess. Since it’s summer and air-drying your hair is an easy option, use this time to limit the use of tools that will harm your hair. When you do use heat, be sure to apply a heat protectant prior.

  4. Find products with hydrating benefits. Avoid products with high alcohol content and search for hydrating ingredients like glycerin.

  5. Use a mask. Using a moisturizing hair mask once a week will help to keep your hair extra hydrated.

  6. Always condition! Be sure to focus conditioner on the ends of your hair, where the most damage has been done.

  7. Try switching from hot showers to warm showers. Hot water temperatures can cause your cuticles to raise, making your hair desperate for extra moisture. By turning the water down just a couple notches, you can do your hair a huge favor!

  8. Switch to a microfiber towel. Microfiber towels are far more absorbent than the standard bath towel. This means you can achieve dry hair faster without having to rub your towel into your hair, saving you from creating damage and breakage through that friction.
